Winners of the 1st Motilal Oswal Think Equity Think QGLP Contest announced!

ISB Mohali is the Winner, IIM Rohtak First Runner-up and IIM Bangalore Second Runner-up

The finals of the 1st Motilal Oswal Think Equity Think QGLP Contest was held on Monday, 2 October 2017 in the P P Gupta Auditorium with the IIM Ahmedabad Campus.

All the 13 finalist teams (listed herein) presented their stock pitches to a 3-member jury (profiled alongside). The presentations were evaluated on the following criteria –

(1) Quality of business
(2) Quality of management
(3) Growth
(4) Longevity
(5) Price
(6) Presentation and Q&A

It was a keenly fought contest, and the judges had to grapple with quite a few tied scores at the top of the table. Finally, the Chairman of the jury panel, Mr Raamdeo Agrawal exercised his casting vote to decide on the top 3 winners as follows –

Winning team : ISB Mohali (Prize money of Rs. 5,00,000/-)
First Runner-up : IIM Rohtak (Prize money of Rs. 2,00,000/-)
Second Runner-up : IIM Bangalore (Prize money of Rs. 1,00,000/-)

JUDGES FOR THE CONTEST FINALS

Mr Raamdeo Agrawal
Mr Raamdeo Agrawal is the co-founder and Joint Managing Director of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited and Chairman of Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company (MOAMC). A Chartered Accountant, he is a pioneer of equity research in India and has been authoring the annual Motilal Oswal Wealth Creation Study for the last 21 years. Under his Chairmanship, MOAMC assets under management have grown rapidly to the current level of over INR 25,000 crores
Mr Ramesh Damani
Ramesh Damani is a member of the Bombay Stock Exchange since 1989. He is a graduate of H. R. College, Mumbai, and an MBA from California State University. He serves as the Chairman of Avenue Supermarts Ltd (known as D-Mart), and is also an independent director on the board of APTECH Ltd. He has hosted several shows for CNBC-TV18, among them, Wizards of Dalal Street, Oriental & Occidental and RD 360. He is a frequent commentator on financial issues on various business channels.
Mr Utpal Sheth
Mr Utpal Sheth is CEO and Senior Partner at Rare Group, a proprietary asset management firm with AUM exceeding US$ 1 billion. A CFA and a Cost Accountant, Mr Sheth has a trail-blazing track record in equity research and asset management. He has co-authored a book “India’s Money Monarchs”, and is also a visiting faculty for capital market related courses at various institutes including Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and UTI Institute of Capital Markets.
