Insight on Mutual Fund schemes shapes the investor. Which investor are you?

An investor needs to carefully decide the assets and structure he wishes to invest and follow. His decision will be based entirely on his comprehension and research. An investor with an in-depth knowledge of the various types of mutual fund schemes will allocate his assets in various investment options However, an investor with little research and knowledge will be able to focus his investment on fewer and structured options. Read below to know more on investment decisions.

Investors with an insight on Mutual Fund schemes

An investor of this type is aware of the various types of mutual fund schemes that are available to him/her. The investor researches more on these schemes and plans accordingly to allocate his investments. Instead of packing his money in the bank or investing in one kind of Mutual Fund product, the investor opts to invest in an array of options such as, Balance funds, ELSS, Fixed Maturity Plan, Debt and Equity Funds, etc. With a keen insight of the market, the investor knows the benefits he shall receive from the diversification of the mutual fund portfolio.  A simple example of this investor can be explained by an artist who has paints on a canvas with different colours.

Investors with brief insight on Mutual Funds

The second investor, too, invests in mutual funds; however, invests in one or few options. As per the graph, he chooses to invest in Open Ended Equity Mutual Funds and makes ELSS a part of it. The investor may or may not seek expert advice. An investor with this behavior does not diversify his asset allocation rather, focuses on a particular approach of investment. A reason for this could be that the investor prefers to play safe or is simply focused towards his choice. This is the stark difference between the kinds of investors. An investor with this behavior is similar to an artist who prefers to paint with only one or two colours and keeps it minimal.
