Self-help or Expert’s help when it comes to investing?

Investment is a useful technique to gain benefits and the graph above describes the investors’ approach by more in equity stocks than in Mutual Funds or vice versa. The strategies used by the investor, depends largely on his/her knowledge of the financial world, concentration and time he or she is able to devote to analyze varying market fluctuations or both. Many at times, the investor lacks time and knowledge and seeks help from an expert. The difference is explained below:

Believes in expert advice

The concept is used interchangeably, investors invest in mutual funds. He does not have enough knowledge in the equity stock market but still strongly believes in creating wealth using this vehicle. He simply entrusts his money into the mutual fund schemes managed by highly qualified professionals in the equity stock market. He may have knowledge of the stocks but might not have the time to monitor the market or make time for research. So, the investor of this category simply invests his money in Mutual Funds schemes. Investors of this type can be explained with the example of a layman who in comparison to any person who has very limited knowledge on gardening, and therefore hires a gardener and allows him to take care of his garden. He has no major role, except for entrusting his wealth with an expert.

Believes in his own knowledge

The other type of investor is very much like an expert because of the layers of experience he has in the equity stock market. Investors of this category have a sound knowledge of the fluctuating patterns of the stock market and single-handedly manage their wealth allocation. They know how to monitor and evaluate the stocks. They constantly update their knowledge repository pertaining to equity stock market and other important developments. The behavior of this investor can be linked with that of an experienced gardener who has the insight in the growth, care and techniques of plants and trees, therefore can plant and care for different trees at the same time and yield benefits.

What’s your strategy?
